The Municipality of Barichara is located in South-East part of the Department of Santander, on a plateau sloping to the right margin of the basin of the river Sogamoso.

Barichara is one of the seventeen municipalities of the Province Guanentina. It is located 21 miles from San Gil, 9 kilometers of Guane, 118 kilometers from Bucaramanga capital of the province and 445 kilometers from the capital of the Republic (Bogotá).

Barichara offers activities that attract tourists. The town has numerous restaurants, hotels, cafes and bars that preserve the colonial architecture. It has also been location for Telenovelas and Movies and Film Festivals (Green Film Festival Barichara), theater and other events.
